SEVEN AND A ONE
A glittering star once, above the skye Now a soul as black as a night's sky And as consuming as a black hole For one's reach, too dark his soul No light passeth, no light dawned To and fro, from his oblivion heart In this judging, unforgiving beau monde Not at home, the unlighted soul depart On his journey, a pretty damsel met Kind she was, and loving and caring His walls she broke through, sweet Juliet And saved him, for death was nearing Her eyes as black as coal Her bright ruddy face like the sun With a broad smile like that of Spring He met an angel, he thought She was, like him, a mere mortal With an entrance and an exit bound And one day heaven will open the portal To take her to where she belongs.
